Click Start, and in the Start Search box, type inetcpl.cpl, and then press Enter. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Programs tab. Under Default Web browser, click Make default. Click OK. If you are talking about Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) the Microsoft engaged alleged "expert" is talking about Windows Essentials which is not the same thing. Sometimes the updates to MSE fail (silently) but it should always catch up eventually. MSE should update just fine as you can see This update contains miscellaneous security improvements to internal OS functionality. No additional issues were documented for this release.
